Speak of ultimate luxury, and you have the 5.47 m long Mercedes Maybach S Class. And that’s going to be another major release in the spring of 2021.
All thanks to @mercedesmaybach (Instagram handle), we have some really classy pictures of the car.
The one mechanical specification we know as of now is that the S580 (Maybach S Class) would be powered by a 496-hp twin-turbo V-8 with a 48-volt hybrid system. This means that the new powertrain produces 33hp more than its predecessor. There’s also a rear-wheel steering that potentially make it super smooth and comfy for the chauffeur to drive around cities and crowded areas.
Then comes the already prevailing autopilot (safety) features such as the lane-change assist, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and active blind spot warnings. The cruise control is genuinely impressive with ‘Route-based speed adaptation’ which implies that the vehicle selects a default safe speed for curves and other similar driveways.
As the legend goes, this fall too, the Mercedes Maybach is looking forward to intimidating its old rivalries – the Rolls Ghost and the Bentley Flying Spur.
The Maybach badge has taken the luxury game too seriously since the last couple of years and no more could a Maybach be casually confused with an S-Class.
Firstly the S580 has a 7 inch longer wheelbase than the S-Class, and this offers a whole lot more room, distinguishingly making it larger than any average luxury sedan.
There are a gazillion standard features inside the leather dipped cabin that define luxury. Hence all of them can’t possibly be listed out. However, there are some of them, that obviously deserve a mention – 64-color interior ambient lighting system, temperature controlled seats with massage and four-position memory settings, a dedicated system that ionizes the air inside the car also adding a custom Maybach fragrance.
The 2021 Maybach S Class is heavily inspired from extravagant luxury yatchs and private jets. The replete interior consists of aluminium, wood and leather.
An optional ‘Executive Rear Seat Plus package’ offers folding tables, an extended center console, additional rear-seat wood trim, and temperature controlled cup holders. Stretching the opulence of the car, Maybach also dispenses an electrically-operated rear doors, a refrigerator, and Maybach-badged champagne flutes (all of these however are optional too).
Apart from the interior-design delicacy, the S580 boasts a flashy infotainment screen –
a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen running the latest version of MBUX and an augmented reality head-up display that pretty much gives you the feel of watching a 70+ inch TV. The navigation/infotainment system is compatible to both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. ‘Hey Mercedes’ is the virtual assistant which works glitch free and is capable of catching and recognising any voice.
Maybach has gone extra premium acoustics wise too. With 30 speakers and 4D surround sound and a couple of resonators for each seat, you would really submerge into the music that plays inside the vehicle.
Come to speak of the pricing, the S580 is roughly estimated to cost to the north of a massive 180K USD. However this could be logically justified given the rarity and eliteness of the vehicle.
